We’re Touched

You know that old saying, about how it takes a village to create a vibrator? We’ll, this certainly held true for our latest design - HELLO TOUCH. More than two years of work, iteration after iteration, plus hours of testing, and then more testing (perhaps more testing than was necessary) went into the release of this final product.

And we couldn’t be happier with the result. Though HELLO TOUCH only launched Tuesday, the word has spread far and wide. Numerous news outlets, including Cosmo, Slate, Jezebel and International Business Times immediately covered the product. If you ask Jesus at Gizmodo, “HELLO TOUCH may be the best sex toy ever invented.”

What would your mother think?

As a Jimmyjane blog reader, you’ve probably seen the articles about our founder, Ethan Imboden, and how he got into the vibrator biz in the first place. But, have you ever thought about how his mother might feel? Well, now you can read all about it, in the New York Times post by Joy Overstreet Imboden (AKA, “Mom” to Ethan).

In this honest account, Overstreet discusses how she went from a prudish Boston upbringing to investing in (and helping with) her son’s vibrator business. Sweet, right?

Reactions to the article range from “awe” to “ew,” as you can read in Jezebel’s response to the article. Jezebel seems into it. The folks who commented below, not so much.

We pride ourselves on our Unbelievably Astounding Customer Service, so when TechCrunch told us our videos were “horrible” (and that “labia” give them the heebie-jeebies), we turned to you, our other customers, to help us make them some new ones, lickety-split.

Heeding our call, our Facebook friends crafted intricate haiku to join TechCrunch and labia in poetic matrimony. Inspired by their creativity, and with poignant readings by our founder, Ethan, we are pleased to present the first in a new genre of sex product videos.

Cats Vs. Pussies

Huffington Post Canada was such a big fan of our Desperately Searching infographic (Or, Graphic Info, as we call it), they decided to make their own slideshow.

The Shutterstock photo they used to represent Cats Vs. Pussies is kind of hysterical.

Well done, Huff Po.

On the other hand, their headline – “What People Search For: Most Searched Sex Phrases On Google” is misleading. We did not claim nor imply that any the terms in the infographic are the most searched sex terms. They’re just sex terms that some people search for. Big difference.

Jimmyjane on Bravo

We’re excited to report that last week’s premiere of “Miss Advised” on Bravo did not disappoint. The reality show features friend of Jimmyjane, Emily Morse (of Sex With Emily), along with two other relationship experts, and proves that being a sex expert, does not make you a pro at your own love life. It’s easier to give the advice than to follow it.

The entertaining first episode included scenes from the launch party that Jimmyjane threw for Emily’s new book, “Hot Sex.” It also included some heart-to-hearts between Emily and her brother, covering topics from monogamy, to codependency, to cock rings. It’s always an adventure in the Morse family, it would seem.

Hysteria comes to San Francisco

Jimmyjane hosted a screening of Hysteria on May 22nd at San Francisco’s Opera Plaza Landmark Cinema. The exclusive screening was followed be a Q&A with director Tanya Wexler. Afterward, the crowd headed to Jardiniere in Hayes Valley.= for celebratory drinks and general merriment.

The San Francisco Chronicle points out that the film “brings up an aspect of 19th century social history that few people know about, one that is more than just interesting or absurd or titillating, but rather illuminating of an entire era’s self-delusion.”

We’d like to add that it’s also laugh-outloud funny.

Jimmyjane hosts Hysteria Premiere in NYC

Jimmyjane and The Peggy Siegal Company hosted an exclusive premiere of Hysteria last night at New York City’s Landmark Sunshine Cinema. Film stars and authors alike joined the event, including star Hugh Dancy, who plays Dr. Mortimer Granville, the inventor of the electric vibrator.

The screening and after party at Hotel Chantelle inspired open discussion from attendees, including 86-year-old legend Angela Lansbury, who, like all guests, received a Jimmyjane vibrator in her gift bag. According to the New York Post, Lansbury claims it was her first.

As Huffington Post put it, “…guests [were] abuzz with anticipation: What was in those white bags? Celebrants went home with vibrators, which in lieu of Hugh himself, would just have to do.” » Read more. »

Good friend of Jimmyjane, Emily Morse, has a new reality show on Bravo called “Miss Advised.” Here you can see Emily fondling her favorite Jimmyjane on camera. As Emily says on her blog – “FORM 6 has a special place in my heart. It was my first Jimmyjane.”

“Miss Advised” premieres this season on Bravo.
