Have you ever seen metal waving like a flag in the wind? Water droplets dancing and hovering?
We believe the pleasure’s in the details – even the ones you can’t see – so we were smitten when we came across this video by Fluke Corporation, specializing in electronic test tools and software.
No, they do not test our vibrators, though clearly we need to send them FORM 2 to shoot at 1,000 frames per second.
Click on the image to the left to see vibrations like you've never seen before.

You may have noticed that most people that you pass on the street – perhaps all of them – are covered in a soft, malleable substance known as clothing. What is the purpose of said clothing? To keep us warm, certainly. To shelter us from the sun’s damaging rays. To protect us from the elements. However, there’s much more to it than that. Clothing denotes culture and class. It can communicate interests, self-image and of course, fashion (see last week's post). But clothing is also a shield, hiding our true appearance from all but a select few. As the German website, Naked-people.de explains, “Clothing is our second skin. It disguises [or] reveals. It can reflect our innermost being, or conceal it.” Scroll through these images of human beings of all shapes and sizes with their clothes on and their clothes off. Our general impression is that, save for a few tattoos and a little extra body fat here and there, we’re mostly all the same underneath. What’s yours?

Many unsavory acts have happened in New York City taxi cabs. This Brian Atwood Fall 2012 Fashion Film though, was apparently just too racy.
According a recent NY Post article, NYC Taxis removed the film from their rear-seat TVs for its risqué content, and the banner ad (pictured on the left) was banned from Atwood's Madison Ave.
We found it interesting that the banned ads feature sexy women in positions of power. Whether she’s chewing on a shoe while men stroke her legs, or watching sexy videos on a giant wall of screens, the woman is the one calling the shots.
During this Fifty-Shades-of-Grey age, in which casual conversation about “doms” and “subs” can be heard on the bus, why should ads like this not grace the streets of Mahattan. Is it because a woman is in charge instead of a man?

Put on your Prada and grab your Gucci; it’s fashion week in New York City. Starting yesterday, the world’s biggest fashion designers are gathering in Manhattan to display their latest collections. It’s the week that determines what’s “in” and what’s “out” for the coming season. So what’s "in" right now?
Whether in a catalog for JC Penny or a full-page magazine spread for Barneys, girl-on-girl action seems to be the marketing trend.
Barneys fall campaign (pictured here) features two female models, Arizona Muse and Magda Laguinge. The shots aren’t completely explicit – they have no children together (as in the JC Penny ads), nor are they making out. But, as Barneys creative director, Dennis Freedman, explains to WWD, "they’re clearly meant to be lovers."
So, it looks like the lesbian community went from being an oppressed minority to the chique new way to sell clothes. Is this advancement for the gay community or is this offensive objectification? What do you think?

If you believe everything you read online (which we absolutely advocate - the Internet never lies), then you'll be tickled pink (or red?) to see the correlation between buying sex toys and voting republican.
According to a recent infographic, eight out of the ten states with the most sex toy purchases per person happen to be the same states that are leaning toward the Romney/Ryan ticket in November. While we're incredulous about the accuracy of these numbers (the data supposedly comes from "Internal Research"), we are sure that it's entertaining to compare this map to any map that shows predictions for the 2012 presidential race.
Another theory - these are also some of the least populated states, so, maybe a vibrator helps pass the time during those lonely days on the farm.

Helen Gurley Brown first became famous for authoring the book, “Sex and the Single Girl.” This precocious book---encouraging women to have all the sex they desired---was published long before the writers of “Sex and the City” had even hit puberty.
It was through this, and through her 32 years as the editor of Cosmopolitan Magazine, that Ms. Brown stretched and broke the boundaries of women's roles and stereotypes from the 1960's on.
She died on Monday in Manhattan, at age 90.
Ms. Brown was a self-proclaimed feminist. It was she who introduced open discussions of sex into women’s magazines. Whether she furthered or hindered the women's liberation movement is still much debated.
One thing that cannot be debated that she Brown was a shrewd business woman. When she started at Cosmo in 1965, it had a circulation of less than 800,000. By the mid 80s, circulation was close to three million.
Helen Gurley Brown is credited with one of our favorite quotes: "Good girls go to heaven, bad girls go everywhere." And for that, among her other accomplishments and influences, we will miss her. Read more about her phenomenal life in this NY Times article.

Right now in London, thousands of athletes are competing in the ultimate test of strength, stamina, grace, or speed. According to an article in ESPN, this display continues off the field, gymnasium and pool and into bedrooms, various bars, and, hell, even on the lawn between dormitories.
It was reported that at Sydney’s 2000 games, the 70,000 condoms distributed were insufficient. This prompted a new standing order of 100,000 condoms per Olympic games.
100,000 condoms. There are 10,960 athletes in London's 2012 Olympics. That's some shocking arithmetic, but at least they’re being safe. Though, imagine the strength and beauty of a baby that’s half U.S. swimmer and half Russian water polo player. Pause for a moment to visualize. Okay, now we can move on.
This wild post-Olympic sex-fest makes perfect sense. Here you have a village full of perfectly sculpted athletes, most of whom are in their teens and twenties, that have been focusing on nothing but training for months. Of course they’d want to let off a little steam. And what better way to do it than to party down with similarly stacked individuals from every country that they’ll never see again. It’s almost too good to be true.
As one American athlete told ESPN, "it turns into a frat party with a very nice gene pool."

Huffington Post Canada was such a big fan of our Desperately Searching infographic (Or, Graphic Info, as we call it), they decided to make their own slideshow.
The Shutterstock photo they used to represent Cats Vs. Pussies is kind of hysterical.
Well done, Huff Po.
On the other hand, their headline - “What People Search For: Most Searched Sex Phrases On Google” is misleading. We did not claim nor imply that any the terms in the infographic are the most searched sex terms. They’re just sex terms that some people search for. Big difference.

The other day, while working on an upcoming project involving patterns and textures, we stumbled across the work of Fernand Fonssagrives. Generally our inspiration comes from further afield (fashion, nature, Higgs bosons), but this case, the subject matter was quite closely related to our work.
Fonssagrives was a popular fashion photographer whose work was featured throughout the 40’s and 50’s in the likes of Town and Country, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. He found his inspiration close to home – his muse was none other than his wife, noted model Lisa Fonssagrives, who later remarried (and served as muse) to a different highly accomplished photographer, Irving Penn. Let’s just say, she has a type.
As we’re always playing with the intersection of geometric and organic forms in our own work, we appreciate how Fonssagrives basic projection of a flat pattern comes to life when mapped onto the body. In the case of this particular image, it’s the acceleration and then attenuation of the simple circle that brings the contours to life and tells us when we’ve reached the extremity of the body.
Keep an eye on our Facebook page for a series of related photographs by Fonssagrives. While you’re at it, let us know if you’ve come across any particularly arresting images of late – you never know, you might be able to spot your contribution to our next product.
